This webinar will be of particular benefit to pharmacists involved in providing and developing services in respiratory medicine looking after patients with Non-Tuberculous Mycobacterial (NTM) Disease in secondary and primary care.
The treatment of NTM disease is complex and limited by several issues, including the need for multi-drug therapies, lengthy treatment durations, and the use of drugs that are not well tolerated or that can have adverse effects, particularly in unwell patients who have existing comorbidities.
The webinar will provide an overview of the management of NTM and introduce the world’s first standards of care for people living with NTM disease in the UK, which were launched in July 2024. This will specifically relate to the role of the pharmacist within the multidisciplinary team.
The aim of this webinar is to provide pharmacists with the knowledge and skills to provide patient-centred pharmaceutical care for people with NTM disease and highlight the new NTM standards of care which aim to promote consistent, standardised, high-quality care.
After this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Proactively advise on and monitor treatment for common NTM diseases
- Describe the six key themes that address the most important issues for the care of people with NTM disease
Speakers:
Dr Toby Capstick, Consultant Pharmacist - Respiratory Medicine, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Christabelle Chen, Lead Respiratory Pharmacist, Barts Health NHS Trust
The expected duration of this webinar is 1 hour.
