Respiratory Masterclass - Asthma and COPD: An update

This full day event will cover aspects of pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of asthma and COPD. This will include consideration of the latest national and international guidelines. There will also be interactive workshop opportunities considering case studies on patient management with these respiratory conditions.

This masterclass has been designed for primary and secondary care pharmacists involved in the care of patients with asthma and/or COPD. The masterclass is suitable for pharmacists who have recently specialised as well as those who are working at early advanced levels and those who wish to refresh their knowledge in current management.

Aim:

The aim of this masterclass is to provide and refresh the knowledge and skills for pharmacists who are practising in primary and secondary care involved in the care of patients with COPD and asthma.

Learning outcomes:
After this masterclass, attendees should be able to:

• Describe and advise on the current pharmacological management of COPD including consideration of the place in therapy of biologics
• Describe and advise on the appropriate management of asthma according to the new NICE/BTS/SIGN Asthma guidelines
• Discuss how sustainable respiratory care can be delivered while maintaining optimum patient health outcomes
