What does Emergency Care pharmacy look like?

This is the first of three webinars in the Essentials of pharmacy in Emergency Care series.

This webinar will provide an introduction to pharmacy teams in Emergency Care and touch on some clinical presentations we see regularly. The speakers will provide a brief summary of some models of emergency department pharmacy services with hints and tips of where to start.

Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians involved in providing and developing services in Emergency Care or Acute Medicine looking after patients requiring emergency and acute treatment in secondary care will particularly benefit from attending this webinar.  It is suitable for pharmacists who have recently specialised as well as those who are working at early advanced levels.

The aim of this webinar is to provide an introduction to the developing area of pharmacy teams in Emergency Care and discuss some key clinical presentations.  The session will lay the groundwork for future specialist sessions focussed on Pharmaceutical Care in Emergency Medicine.

After this webinar, attendees should be able to:

• Discuss a selection of key clinical presentations in emergency care and the role of the pharmacy team in managing these.
• Explain some options for potential pharmacy services in Emergency Care
